چکیده

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical, biological and radiological responses to, tolerability of, conventional transarterial chemoembolization (cTACE) using streptozocin for unresectable neuroendocrine liver metastases. Patients Methods: A total 52 patients with predominant disease were treated cTACE an emulsion streptozocin, Lipiodol embolization particles. sequential approach favored in high tumor burden. Clinical, evaluated carcinoid symptoms, biomarkers mRecist criteria, respectively. Results: 127 procedures performed a 65% patients. All received Lipiodol. Carcinoid syndrome improved 69% after treatment (p = 0.01). Post-embolization reported 78% At end all cTACE, objective response non-progressive 32% 70%, Progression-free survival 18.3 ± 13.3 months (median 14.9) median overall (OS) from start 74 months. OS at 1 year, 2 years, 3 years 5 91% (IC 84–99%), 84% (CI 72–95%), 53–84%) 63% (C 46–81%), Conclusions: is effective well-tolerated palliative option metastases, associated prolonged delayed time progression.

Prediction of survival in patients with unresectable colorectal liver metastases.

UNLABELLED Liver metastases are diagnosed synchronously with the primary tumour in 25% of patients with colorectal cancer. A half of the remaining patients develop liver metastases within 3 years following colectomy. At present, the only radical treatment of metastases is liver resection. Only 2.6% of patients survive 3 years if such treatment is not implemented. The aim of the study was to ass...

Prompt resolution of hypoglycemia by hepatic transarterial embolization for malignant insulinoma with multiple liver metastases.

A 45-year-old female who presented with loss of consciousness and a cold sweat was found to have a pancreatic tumor and multiple liver metastases. Laboratory studies showed marked hypoglycemia and inappropriately elevated serum insulin, C-peptide, and serum tumor markers. Fine needle aspiration revealed Grade 3 small-cell type primary pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinoma. Consequently, the diagn...

Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumor with unresectable liver metastases: an example of multimodal therapeutic approach.

Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (NET) frequently present with unresectable hepatic metastases, which poses a barrier for curative treatment. Resection of the primary tumor and subsequent orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) has been proposed as a treatment approach but available data in this regard is limited. We present a clinical case of an otherwise asymptomatic 44-yo man complainin...
